Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, is venturing into cryptocurrency with his own meme coin named $LAPTOP. The token references the infamous laptop controversy that emerged during the 2020 presidential campaign.

In a video posted to social media on Monday, Hunter Biden promoted the planned launch of $LAPTOP, which will be available on Base, Coinbase's blockchain network. This move follows his July Substack post where he discussed the laptop's provenance and chain of custody, acknowledging that it contained records from a period when he was struggling with addiction.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the coin appears to be targeted at President Donald Trump, a longtime political adversary of the Biden family. Meme coins are typically driven by online attention and speculation rather than an underlying product or business.
