Las Vegas Woman Charged in Miami Crypto Scam Linked to Strip Thefts
Cassandra Dianne Thompson, a 35-year-old Las Vegas woman, has been charged in Miami-Dade County, Florida, with multiple felony counts related to a cryptocurrency scam. The charges include grand theft, money laundering, and unauthorized use of a communication device.
The alleged scam involved a man who met Thompson at a bar in Miami on December 11, 2024. He reported feeling unwell after she served him a drink and later discovered that his phone, $10,000 in cash, and over $72,841 in cryptocurrency were missing.
Thompson's phone number was linked to the crypto transfer request, as well as a Venmo transaction and a Spirit Airlines Wi-Fi charge. The victim identified Thompson from a photo lineup.
This is not Thompson's first run-in with the law. She has been arrested or cited at least 29 times in the Las Vegas Valley since 2014 for various crimes, including solicitation of prostitution, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and battery.
