Las Vegas Woman Charged with Stealing Cryptocurrency, Linked to Multiple Robberies

Share

Cassandra Dianne Thompson, a 35-year-old Las Vegas woman, has been charged in Miami-Dade County, Florida, with various crimes related to stealing cryptocurrency and cash from a man she met at a bar.

The victim reported feeling unwell after being given a drink by Thompson, and later woke up to find his phone and $10,000 in cash missing. He was able to track his phone to New York City and discovered that someone had tried to steal $230,000 in cryptocurrency from him, but only obtained $72,841.

Thompson has been linked to the crime through a phone number used in the crypto transfer request, as well as Venmo transactions. The victim later identified Thompson from a photo lineup.

This is not Thompson's first run-in with the law; she has been arrested or cited at least 29 times in the Las Vegas Valley since 2014 for various crimes, including solicitation of prostitution and battery.
