LayerZero Faces ZRO Supply Test Amid Wood Endorsement
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest has thrown its support behind LayerZero, but investors may face a challenge in the coming days. According to research by ARK, LayerZero handled roughly 44% of cross-chain volume during the first half of 2026, outperforming Circle's CCTP with about 41%. The protocol's interoperability business could eventually generate nine-figure annual recurring revenue, according to ARK researcher Lorenzo Valente.
LayerZero has introduced a new pricing model that links cross-chain activity directly to its token. Under this model, excess Stargate revenue is directed toward ZRO purchases. The company acquired Stargate in 2025 and used bridge revenue for monthly ZRO purchases between September and November of that year.
The strategy also builds on the earlier consolidation of Stargate-to-ZRO, which eliminated hundreds of millions of remaining STG tokens. However, a $25M supply test is days away as approximately 23.6 million ZRO allocated to core contributors and strategic partners are scheduled to unlock around September 19-20.
