Lazarus Group Wallets Keep Moving Millions Through Unregulated Platform Amid US Regulatory Push
The Lazarus Group-linked wallets have been actively moving funds through Hyperliquid's HyperUnit service as recently as August 31. Over $30 million was moved via this platform, according to blockchain researcher Emmett Gallic.
This disclosure coincides with efforts by U.S. policymakers and Kraken's parent company to bring Hyperliquid under formal U.S. oversight. The company is reportedly in talks with Hyperliquid Labs for regulated access to the American market.
The wallets in question were previously identified as belonging to the Lazarus Group, a hacking collective sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). They were linked to $61 million in stolen funds back in 2024 by researcher ZachXBT.
