Ledger and Payward Bring Tokenized Stocks to Offline Storage
A new partnership between Ledger and Payward brings tokenized stocks to offline storage.
Tokenized versions of popular stocks can now be stored on a secure physical device, thanks to a tie-up between Ledger and Payward. This arrangement allows users to store digital assets on a physical device that is not connected to the internet, also known as 'cold storage'.
This method has long been popular with hardcore Bitcoin devotees who are reluctant to entrust their assets to a third party or store them online where hackers can target them. The new partnership marks the first time stocks have been available for cold storage, and it is expected to appeal to two sets of investors.
The first group consists of Ledger's approximately 8 million customers who prefer self-custody for their assets rather than relying on third parties. The second group includes more traditional stock buyers who may be growing uneasy with the rising threat of hackers in the age of AI and quantum computing.
