Ledger Wallet Outshines Base App with Clear Signing Feature

Share

The Ledger Wallet and Base App are both self-custody wallets that offer users control over their private keys. However, they differ in how each wallet holds and verifies transactions.

The Base App, previously known as Coinbase Wallet, stores user keys on an internet-connected device and confirms transactions on the same device. In contrast, Ledger Wallet uses a dedicated Ledger signer to hold private keys inside a Secure Element chip with EAL5+ or EAL6+ certification.

Ledger's Secure Screen provides users with clear and transparent transaction verification, displaying real-time details in plain language. This eliminates the risk of blind signing, where users may unknowingly approve malicious transactions.
