Lee's AI-Driven Crypto Bull Case Puts BitMine and Ethereum in Focus
Tom Lee, a well-known crypto bull, has a new argument that this crypto cycle could be larger than previous ones. He pointed to tokenization, institutional inflows, generational wealth transfer, and AI agents using digital money as forces driving this trend. Lee emphasized that crypto is becoming infrastructure for a broader digital economy, rather than just a bet on another Bitcoin rally.
Lee highlighted the growing use of blockchain for tokenization and argued that AI agents could eventually need digital money to transact autonomously. He sees blockchains and digital assets increasingly filling the gap between human and AI transactions. Tokenization is also a major piece, with traditional financial institutions moving assets onto blockchains, connecting crypto infrastructure more closely to mainstream finance.
BitMine Immersion Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:BMNR), the company chaired by Lee, has its own crypto signal. BMNR holds 5.96 million Ethereum, representing about 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply, alongside $549 million in cash and marketable securities and other investments. Its combined crypto, cash, securities, and 'moonshot' holdings totaled $15.8 billion at the time.
The stock's chart is adding another layer to the story. BitMine's 50-day moving average has crossed above its 200-day moving average, creating a Golden Cross, a technical pattern traders often watch as a potential sign that recent momentum is strengthening. The stock is up 9.51% over one month and 41.66% over six months, despite a 5.55% decline over the past five trading days.
