Leumi Becomes First Israeli Bank to Offer Crypto Trading
Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, has partnered with Galaxy Digital to offer cryptocurrency trading to its customers. The service is expected to launch in early 2027 through the Leumi Trade app, which will be available to both Leumi and Pepper mobile banking customers. Customers will be able to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
The partnership with Galaxy Digital will provide trading infrastructure through the GalaxyOne Institutional platform, which brings together trading, custody, staking, financing, and research in one place. The firm's custody platform, formerly known as GK8, will manage digital asset security for Leumi. This move makes Leumi the first Israeli bank to offer crypto trading directly to customers.
The choice of assets reflects current institutional demand, with Bitcoin and Ethereum being the two largest cryptocurrencies by market cap. Solana has seen growing interest from institutional players, and Galaxy already has infrastructure built around it. The partnership is part of a wider strategy from Galaxy Digital to build out its institutional banking partnerships across multiple markets.
