Leveraged Funds Cut Bitcoin Futures Shorts by 5,300 BTC-Equivalent
Leveraged funds, which invest in derivatives and futures, have reduced their short positions in Bitcoin futures by 5,300 BTC-equivalent, according to the latest data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
This reduction in short positions, which occurred in the week ending September 29, has narrowed the net short position of these funds, which still exceeds their long positions.
However, the net short position has decreased by 4,390.70 BTC-equivalent, from 40,110.83 to 35,720.13, indicating a slight improvement in the overall positioning of these funds.
The individual products did not move uniformly, with standard CME futures accounting for 4,310 BTC-equivalent of the reduction in reported shorts, while their leveraged-fund longs increased by 1,175 BTC-equivalent.
