Leverton Takes Helm at Fortitude Mining Ahead of Nasdaq Listing
Fortitude Mining has named Jaime Leverton as its new CEO, effective September 21. Leverton previously served as CEO of Hut 8 and will take over from Andrea Childs, who will become Chief Operating Officer.
Leverton brings more than 25 years of experience across digital assets, capital markets, energy, data centers, and computing to the role.
Fortitude has been shifting its focus towards Zcash mining in recent months, driven by the cryptocurrency's strong price gains. In the first six months of 2026, Fortitude mined 72,696 ZEC, generating $20.9 million in revenue in Q2.
A recent analysis by Grayscale Research found that Zcash mining generates significantly higher returns per machine and unit of electricity than Bitcoin. The improved economics have been supported by ZEC's price performance, which crossed $1,000 on September 4 for the first time in nearly a decade.
