Lido Proposes Higher Bond Requirement for New Staking Route
Lido's proposed staking route for running larger Ethereum validators would require a significantly higher entry bond compared to its existing default route. The new route, known as Community Staking Module 0x02, would support compounding validators with up to 2,048 ETH of effective stake, whereas the existing route only allows up to 32 ETH.
The proposed bond for the first key is 32 ETH, while subsequent keys require a 30 ETH bond. In comparison, the default entry bond for Lido's existing route is only 2.4 ETH for the first key and 1.3 ETH thereafter. This means that operators would need to post significantly more collateral to use the new route.
However, once enough stake is allocated to the validator, the higher collateral can become more efficient. The proposed module also includes a permissionless profile, allowing any operator to participate without needing to meet the same requirements as existing-route validators.
