Lido Upgrade Aims to Cut Ethereum Validators by One-Third
Lido, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform focused on Ethereum staking, has announced an upgrade aimed at reducing the number of Ethereum validators by one-third. The move is part of Lido's efforts to improve the efficiency and scalability of its protocol.
According to the announcement, the upgrade will involve a reduction in the minimum gas price required for validator operations, making it more cost-effective for smaller validators to participate in the network. This change is expected to lead to a decrease in the number of validators from around 260,000 to approximately 180,000.
The Lido team has stated that this upgrade will help reduce congestion and improve the overall performance of the Ethereum network. However, some experts have raised concerns about the potential impact on the security of the network, highlighting the importance of a robust validator ecosystem for maintaining the integrity of the blockchain.
