Liquid Network Breach Exposes Weakness in Crypto Infrastructure
The Liquid Network has been breached, resulting in the theft of approximately $320 million worth of Bitcoin. The hack occurred on one of its wallets, which contained about 4,000 out of 4,200 BTC.
Liquid's platform stated that the activity appears to involve 'white-hat hackers' who exploit vulnerabilities and often return funds for a fee. However, no funds have been returned yet as of Monday morning in London.
The incident is linked to a flaw that enabled the creation of L-BTC (Liquid Bitcoin), according to early indications from cybersecurity experts.
Ziqing Ang, TRM Labs' head of policy for Asia-Pacific, noted that while these events may shake consumer confidence, they highlight the need for strengthening critical infrastructure safeguards and comprehensive security across the full stack.
