Buterin Dismisses AI-Driven 50% Bitcoin Price Crash Fears

Vitalik Buterin has expressed confidence in Bitcoin's ability to withstand potential risks posed by artificial intelligence, including a predicted 50% price crash.

Liron Shapira, a commentator known for tracking AI-risk forecasts, had assigned even odds to such an event occurring within two years, citing the potential for AI to undermine assumptions about Bitcoin's security and expose weaknesses not yet priced in.

Buterin disagreed with this assessment, stating that he expects the Bitcoin network to handle any security issues without requiring social consensus and implying that the bigger challenge lies in coordinating fixes for problems that require community agreement.

In a show of faith in his thesis, Buterin revealed that he still holds Bitcoin in his portfolio, although it represents less than 10% of his holdings.
