Liquid Network Exploit Actors Return 3,400 BTC After Blockstream Patch
The Liquid Network exploit actors have returned approximately 3,400 BTC to the Liquid Federation wallet. This amount represents about 85% of the stolen funds from a recent incident that saw roughly 4,000 BTC withdrawn.
The transfer was made on September 7 and is confirmed by its inclusion in Bitcoin block 965950. Blockstream had issued an on-chain message with a PGP signature, stating that their bridge nodes had been patched and the funds were safe to return.
This recovery brings down the amount of BTC still held outside the federation wallet but does not restore the full balance taken during the incident. The actors still possess approximately 598.5 BTC worth around $47 million at the time, according to The Block's reporting.
