LIT Rally Halted by $4 Barrier as Fees Surge on DEX
The Lighter cryptocurrency (LIT), native to the perpetual decentralized exchange (DEX), has experienced a significant surge in value, rising by over 15% within the past 48 hours. This price increase has lifted LIT's value from below $3.50 to above $3.94, with some analysts speculating that clearing the $4 hurdle could lead to the token reaching as high as $5.
However, despite this recent rally, LIT has struggled to break through the $4 barrier, a feat it failed to achieve in August when its value exploded by 110%. The token's Relative Strength Index (RSI) hit overbought territory during this period, suggesting that a cool-off was inevitable.
Looking ahead to the Fed rate decision on September 15th, market analysts are cautioning that LIT may remain stuck below $4 despite its strong performance on the DEX. The Average True Range (ATR) metric has flattened and begun trending downwards, indicating reduced volatility in the token's price action.
The growth of Lighter's DEX has been fueled by its integration with Robinhood, a popular fintech platform that offers perps markets on its Ethereum L2 network. As a result, the DEX saw $39B in perpetual volume in August, up from $36B in July, with fees increasing by 30% to $3.5M.
This uptick in revenue could lead to increased buybacks of LIT, potentially boosting its price prospects if the token's traction on the DEX persists.
