Litecoin Extends Rally on Growing MWEB Adoption and LitVM Progress
Litecoin (LTC) continued its impressive rally in September, outperforming Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies. The surge in price comes as Litecoin's Mimblewimble Extension Block (MWEB) addresses have seen a significant increase in private balances, with approximately 519,000 LTC now held inside the network's privacy layer.
This marks a new milestone for MWEB adoption, which has been steadily rising over the past two years. The growing use of Litecoin's privacy functionality is seen as a major development for the cryptocurrency, offering users increased security and anonymity in their transactions.
Additionally, LitVM, a project focused on developing an EVM-compatible ZK rollup secured by Litecoin, continues to make progress towards its goal. While the mainnet launch has not yet occurred, recent updates indicate that the test network has processed over 250 million transactions, with applications such as prediction markets and DeFi products being developed ahead of the official launch.
The current rally in Litecoin's price is driven by two distinct narratives: increasing use of MWEB today and expectations for a broader programmable ecosystem in the future. However, it is essential to note that neither MWEB balances nor LitVM developments guarantee the continuation of the price rally.
