Litecoin's Sudden Surge: A 8% Gain in 24 Hours Defies Market Weakness
Litecoin ($LTC), often seen as the 'silver' to Bitcoin's 'gold', has defied market weakness over the past day, gaining nearly 8% to $66 in 24 hours. This price surge is its highest since January and marks a 37% increase for the month, outperforming other top cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
The Litecoin Foundation attributed this growth to increased economic activity on the network. Another possible reason could be a self-fulfilling prophecy tied to the reward halving cycle, which will cut per-block rewards to 3.125 $LTC next July.
Analysts, including Alex Kuptsikevich from The FxPro, believe that any pain caused by rising bond yields could be short-lived, citing Bitcoin's past performance as an example. In 2021, the cryptocurrency lost over 50% of its peak value before reaching new highs.
