LMAX Eyes $5B Valuation Amid Crypto Market Volatility
LMAX Group is exploring strategic options worth up to $5 billion after enlisting Morgan Stanley and KBW as advisors. The institutional trading company could pursue a direct sale, merge with a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC), or launch an initial public offering in the US or Europe.
A Nasdaq IPO currently ranks as LMAX's preferred option, according to sources familiar with the matter. However, no final decision has been made, and LMAX is not under pressure to enter the public market while cryptocurrency prices remain weak.
LMAX's foreign exchange business allows it to wait through challenging market conditions, and its established operations provide a stable revenue stream. The company has seen increased institutional participation following the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US.
