Lola Vision Systems Aims to Streamline Edge AI with Modular Chip Design
Lola Vision Systems, a startup specializing in edge AI processors, is developing a chip designed to simplify AI deployment in environments without reliable cloud access. The company’s LVS-250 processor targets defense, aerospace, and automotive industries, offering high performance with low power consumption. The chip uses a modular chiplet design, allowing for flexible development and upgrades without overhauling the entire system.
The LVS-250 features five chiplets connected via UCIe 2.0, integrated RF capabilities, and post-quantum cryptography to ensure security against future threats. Performance-wise, it delivers 230 TOPS at INT8 precision while consuming under 25W, making it more power-efficient than Nvidia’s Orin, which consumes over 60W for similar performance. The chip is slated for release in 2027, with manufacturing set to occur in the US on GlobalFoundries’ 12LP+ process node.
Founded in 2023, Lola Vision Systems operates with a small team of eight to nine employees and has raised between $720K and $1.09M in early-stage funding. The company recently earned a spot in TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield 200 cohort and won a $125K grand prize at Investfest in August 2025. Despite its modest funding, Lola aims to compete in the defense and edge AI sectors, where power efficiency and US manufacturing are critical factors.
