Long-Term Holding Costs: Coach JV Cites Advantage of Bitcoin and XRP
Critic Coach JV says he keeps buying Bitcoin and XRP because of their low long-term holding costs.
In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, Coach JV explained that unlike traditional assets such as homes or cars, which generate recurring taxes, registration fees, and maintenance costs, Bitcoin and XRP have no annual mandatory charges for ownership.
He argued that when evaluating an asset, investors should consider not only the purchase price but also the ongoing costs of holding it over time. For example, even after paying off a car loan, owners still pay annual registration fees and insurance premiums.
XRP's Ledger (XRPL) does require a base reserve of 1 XRP for self-custody accounts, but this is not an annual recurring charge. Transaction fees also apply when sending or trading XRP, but these are permanently burned on the network if no separate transactions occur.
