LSE Teams with Kraken Parent to Tokenize Major UK Equity Products
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is set to offer tokenized UK stocks on its proposed round-the-clock trading facility, LSE 24. The exchange will partner with Payward, Kraken's parent company, to provide access to tokenized stocks that track major UK equity products starting in 2027.
This move comes as the LSE seeks to improve accessibility for investors who cannot participate during regular sessions. Tokenization enables digital representations of traditional equities designed to move or settle on-chain using blockchain infrastructure. This can enable fractional ownership, faster settlement workflows, and trading that is less constrained by conventional market hours.
The partnership with Payward will allow the LSE to provide access to tokenized stocks tracking leading UK equity products starting in 2027. Mark Greenberg, Payward's chief commercial officer, stated that the LSE partnership would provide access to tokenized stocks referencing leading UK equities.
