LSEG Unveils Plans for 24/5 Trading Cycle and Tokenized Equities
London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has announced plans to introduce a 24/5 trading cycle, dubbed LSEG24, in the first half of 2027. This move aims to increase market efficiency and provide investors with more flexibility.
As part of this initiative, LSEG is building a digital securities depository that will support the recording and settlement of eligible assets. The group is also partnering with Kraken to list tokenized equities on its platform, which will allow for the creation and trading of digital representations of traditional shares.
The partnership with HSBC will enable an interoperable connection between LSEG's systems and those of the bank, facilitating seamless transactions and settlements.
Darko Hajdukovic, a representative from LSEG, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that it will bring 'a crypto-native platform into the listing process.'
