LTC Surges to 8-Month High on Leverage-Fueled Rally
Litecoin has reached an eight-month high as institutional and speculative demand for the cryptocurrency rise.
The recent surge in price can be attributed to derivatives data, which suggests that leverage is driving most of the rally. Open Interest (OI) in Litecoin futures climbed to around $670 million, just below its yearly peak of roughly $690 million set in January.
This growth in OI is not solely due to increasing prices; measured in LTC, open interest grew by about 25% over the past week, according to Glassnode. This indicates that traders are opening new positions.
The ETF holdings for Litecoin have also reached a record high of around 175,000 LTC, with Canary Capitals LTCC adding roughly 39,000 LTC in its largest inflow to date. However, the scale of these ETF balances is still too small to carry the price alone.
