Lubin Sees Blockchain Expanding Beyond Finance into Culture and Gaming
Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin believes that blockchain technology is poised to move beyond finance and into culture, entertainment, and gaming. Speaking at a press conference in Seoul, he noted that Korea's content industry, which includes K-pop and K-dramas, could be a key growth area for blockchain.
Lubin stated that the next major development after finance will be social, cultural, and entertainment applications of blockchain technology. He predicted that non-financial services such as social media, games, and prediction markets could become increasingly popular in Korea. This would involve using blockchain-based platforms to store and manage digital assets, access decentralized services, and engage with communities.
Lubin also emphasized the growing institutional participation in the blockchain industry. He noted that he had observed a significant increase in the number of business professionals attending events in recent years. Consensys, the company he co-founded, is expanding its partnerships with domestic financial institutions and hiring Korean-speaking staff to engage with local communities.
