Luke Dashjr Removed as Bitcoin BIP Editor Following BIP-110 Fork Failure
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has been removed as an editor of Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) following the failure of BIP-110, a proposal aimed at reducing spam on the network. The decision was voted on by other developers and posted on the BIP Github page.
Dashjr was heavily involved in the creation and implementation of BIP-110, which failed to gain consensus over the weekend when it attempted to change Bitcoin's consensus rules. He exercised his authority as a BIP editor inconsistently with the established editorial process, unfairly favoring the proposal he was involved in.
The motion to remove Dashjr as an editor cited his inconsistent behavior and conflict-of-interest concerns, despite him being one of the earliest contributors to Bitcoin Core. Dashjr responded by calling the decision 'an abuse of power by Core' and claiming they have no authority to do so.
