Lummis Blames Democrats' Trump Hatred for Crypto Bill Failure
Senator Cynthia Lummis expressed her disappointment and frustration after a key crypto market structure bill failed to advance in the Senate. She pointed fingers at Democrats, accusing them of prioritizing their visceral hatred for former President Donald Trump over good policy.
Lummis stated that while the bill was the result of bipartisan negotiations, every single Democrat voted against it. The senator claimed that this decision was motivated by a desire to pin the blame on others, rather than taking responsibility for the bill's failure.
The legislation in question had grown from 300 pages to over 600 after Democrats requested additional provisions addressing issues like bankruptcy protections. Lummis credited Senators Angela Alsobrooks and Kirsten Gillibrand, who she described as 'honest brokers,' for their efforts in negotiating the bill.
