U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis has been pushing for the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets and clarify the responsibilities of regulatory bodies.

The bill includes provisions addressing ethics, digital asset oversight, stablecoin rewards, and enforcement authority, with requirements concerning disclosures by digital asset issuers and restrictions against manipulative or deceptive conduct.

Lummis defended the legislation's investor-protection provisions, arguing that it would impose liability on cryptocurrency issuers for fraudulent disclosures.

The Senate voted 49-50 to block the bill from advancing, with none of the Democratic senators supporting the motion. The failed vote leaves the measure without enough support to proceed through the Senate at this stage.
