Majority of Affluent Investors Hold Digital Assets Despite Market Downturn
CoinShares, a leading global asset manager specializing in digital assets, has published a survey revealing that a majority of affluent investors across seven major markets now hold digital assets. The survey, conducted with Vardaxoglou Advisory, polled 2,230 investors in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland. It found that digital asset ownership ranges from 54% in Sweden to around 70% in the US, UK, Germany, and Switzerland.
Despite a sharp downturn in February 2026, the survey showed that more investors were motivated to invest rather than deterred. Among current digital asset investors, the share likely to increase exposure in 2026 ranged from 71% in Sweden to 91% in the US, UK, and Germany. Strategic motives for investment averaged 41%, while speculation accounted for 19%. The survey also highlighted a preference for intermediated access, with 55% of respondents favoring this method and 69% considering a wealth manager with crypto expertise.
The survey noted that 80% of digital asset investors on average hold Bitcoin. Additionally, 79% of respondents supported increased regulation of the digital asset market. Policy signals also received a positive reaction, with 68% to 79% of investors favoring the US Administration agenda compared to 49% to 65% for the EU's MiCA framework.
