Mantle Chain Network Halts for 30 Hours Due to Cosmos EVM Vulnerability Exploitation
Mantle Chain, a layer-1 blockchain focused on real-world assets (RWA) tokenization, experienced a security incident that caused its network to halt for approximately 30 hours. The chain's official X account announced the incident on August 21.
The issue occurred when an attacker exploited a vulnerability in the Cosmos EVM module, which enables interoperability between Mantle Chain and Ethereum.
A maintenance patch, v8.4.0, was applied to address the vulnerability and enhance security measures. The network resumed block generation on August 22 at around 5:30 UTC after a coordinated validator restart.
