Maple Finance Bolsters Liquidity Buffer with Ethena’s Conservative Stablecoin
DeFi lending protocol Maple Finance has integrated Ethena's USDtb stablecoin into its liquidity buffer, bolstering its safety net and risk management. The move adds a BlackRock-backed stablecoin layer to a reserve pool holding approximately $400 million in liquid assets.
USDtb is a fully reserved stablecoin backed predominantly by shares in BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized US Treasury fund, launched by Ethena in December 2024 as the conservative option for protocols and institutions seeking stablecoin exposure without complex synthetic mechanisms.
The partnership between Maple Finance and Ethena runs deeper than this integration, with both protocols involved in initiatives around Ethena's Converge chain, a purpose-built blockchain bridging traditional finance and DeFi infrastructure.
