MARA CEO Forecasts Electricity as Key Asset in AI Era
The CEO of MARA, Fred Thiel, has stated that electricity has become a core asset in the AI era. As computing power demand continues to grow, electricity is now contested by various entities, including Bitcoin mining companies, cloud service providers, chip manufacturers, and large-model enterprises.
MARA is transforming from a pure Bitcoin mining company into an energy platform controlling land, electricity, and data center infrastructure. Thiel believes that Bitcoin mining will not disappear but will increasingly utilize surplus power generated from data centers, microgrids, and renewable energy sources.
Thiel has a 40-year background in the tech industry, starting as a software programmer before moving into product and sales roles. He was involved in an IoT company's IPO at age 40 and later worked in private equity and venture capital. Thiel was initially skeptical of Bitcoin but became interested after seeing its potential to solve problems.
