MARA Holdings Buys $98 Million in Bitcoin Amid AI Development Concerns
MARA Holdings made headlines this week by purchasing 1,292 Bitcoin worth nearly $98.64 million on Wednesday through FalconX.
The move comes as AI industry leaders have called for a slower and more supervised pace of development, citing risks to humanity from unchecked growth.
MARA Holdings had been selling Bitcoin earlier this year, shifting its focus towards AI infrastructure services and offloading 23,093 BTC worth roughly $1.63 billion in the process.
This latest purchase marks one of MARA Holdings' largest on-chain accumulations in nearly a year and brings their total BTC holdings to 35,577, with an estimated value of close to $2.7 billion at current prices.
