Marathon Digital is set to release its second-quarter results on Thursday after market close, and investors are eager to see if the miner can deliver a return to profitability while executing an ambitious pivot into artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The consensus forecast suggests Marathon will post earnings of 35 cents per share on revenue of $208.4 million, which would represent a sharp turnaround from the first quarter's $3.31 loss per share on revenue of $174.6 million.

Analysts expect a nearly 19% sequential growth in revenue and have maintained a 'Buy' rating on the stock, with a mean price target of $18.13, implying 61% upside from the current $11.24 share price.

The company's ability to sign high-performance computing contracts and demonstrate diversified revenue streams may be more important to investors than Bitcoin's price, which is currently trading near $60,000 to $70,000.
