Mastercard Backs XRPL Hackathon, Expanding Ripple Ties

Mastercard has announced its participation in an upcoming XRPL hackathon in New York as a sponsor.

The event, scheduled for October 24-25, will bring developers together to build and launch projects on the XRP Ledger ahead of Swell, Ripple's much-awaited conference.

This development is part of Mastercard's expanding relationship with Ripple, which has grown over the past year. In November 2025, Ripple announced a collaboration with Mastercard, WebBank, and Gemini around RLUSD stablecoin.

The partnership came after Gemini launched an XRP edition of its Mastercard credit card in August 2026, allowing customers to earn rewards in XRP, including up to 4% back on some purchases.
