Mastercard Backs XRPL Hackathon Focused on AI Finance and Lending
Mastercard has announced its support for an upcoming XRPL hackathon focused on AI finance and lending, bringing a major global payments player into an event that explores the future of blockchain-based finance.
The hackathon, hosted by XRPL Commons, will take place in New York on October 24-25, 2026, just ahead of Ripple's Swell conference. Mastercard's involvement is notable as it targets several areas transforming financial infrastructure: payments, stablecoins, AI, tokenized assets, and on-chain lending.
Developers will compete across four tracks, including Protocol Innovation, Agentic Finance, Lending & Borrowing, and the Why Not track, which gives developers room to pursue ideas that fall outside the other categories. Mastercard's sponsorship adds weight to the event, particularly given the company's growing interest in blockchain and stablecoin infrastructure.
The hackathon could provide a glimpse of XRPL's next chapter, one that extends beyond payments into an ecosystem where AI agents, stablecoins, tokenized assets, and decentralized lending share the same financial rails.
