Mastercard is set to offer Open USD (OUSD), a dollar-pegged stablecoin, through its BVNK platform. OUSD was launched on September 30, 2026, by the Open Standard consortium, and runs on multiple blockchains including Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo.

The consortium behind OUSD has more than 200 companies contributing over $1 billion in near-term liquidity. Mastercard's BVNK platform will act as a distributor and facilitator for OUSD transactions, leveraging its existing infrastructure and regulatory licenses.

BVNK operates in over 130 countries and processes approximately $30 billion in stablecoin payment volume each year. The acquisition of BVNK by Mastercard in August 2026 has provided a significant boost to the company's expansion plans.
