Mastercard has joined an upcoming XRP Ledger hackathon in New York as a sponsor. The firm will participate in the 36-hour event on October 24-25, which brings developers to build and launch projects on the XRP Ledger ahead of Swell, the much-awaited Ripple conference.

This is not the first time Mastercard has collaborated with Ripple. In November last year, the two firms partnered with WebBank and Gemini for a collaboration around Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin.

Meanwhile, legendary trader Peter Brandt has opened a long position in Bitcoin after breaking above a key neckline on its daily chart. The price surged to $72,335, forcing Brandt to reverse his previous bearish bias.

In related news, BlackRock's Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) recorded over $1 billion in net inflows over nine consecutive trading sessions between August 17 and August 27.
