Mastercard Teams Up with XRP Ecosystem for Hackathon Ahead of Ripple Swell 2026

Mastercard is deepening its ties to the XRP Ledger ecosystem by sponsoring the upcoming XRP Ledger Hackathon on October 24-25. The event precedes Ripple Swell 2026, which runs from October 27 to 29.

This marks Mastercard's latest step into the Ripple ecosystem following its partnership program with Ripple, Circle, Binance, Gemini, PayPal, and Paxos in March. In June, it expanded support for Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin.

The hackathon will give developers a chance to explore use cases for the XRP network, which has a decade of operational history and payment-focused architecture. Mastercard's sponsorship is seen as a developer-ecosystem initiative rather than a formal product partnership.
