Matter Labs Elastic Chain Expansion Hits 500 Million Transactions
The Matter Labs elastic chain expansion has reached a significant milestone of 500 million transactions this month. This achievement follows the October 2025 Atlas upgrade, which introduced 1-second finality and increased capacity to over 15,000 transactions per second.
The ZK Stack framework powers this volume by letting independent ZK chains share liquidity through a unified bridge contract on Ethereum. This expansion maintains zkSync Era as the largest zero-knowledge rollup by total value locked, which reached $3 billion in mid-2026.
The network uses advanced cryptographic validity proofs to ensure that every batch settles on Ethereum with mathematical certainty. The execution layer, called ZKsync OS, handles transaction processing while the ZKsync Gateway manages proof aggregation.
