McLaren Racing has partnered with Hedera Foundation (HBAR) in a multi-year agreement that makes the distributed ledger network an official sponsor of both its Formula 1 and IndyCar teams.

The partnership centers on free digital collectibles released during F1 Grand Prix weekends, with Arrow McLaren IndyCar collectibles returning for the 2026 season. Hedera branding will appear on McLaren F1 cars, driver race suits, and IndyCar team vehicles.

McLaren emphasized that users don't need to hold HBAR tokens or manage blockchain wallets, removing technical barriers that limited adoption in earlier sports blockchain initiatives. The network's hashgraph consensus allows for fast transaction processing with predictable low fees, attributes McLaren cited in selecting the platform over alternatives like Ethereum or Solana.

Hedera operates under a governance structure involving a rotating council of global organizations, including Google, IBM, Boeing, and Deutsche Telekom. This differs from decentralized blockchain networks where governance remains distributed among token holders.
