Meme Coin Market Sees Modest Rebound as Traders Take on Riskier Assets
The meme coin market has shown signs of life this week as traders become more willing to take on riskier assets.
Dogecoin led the charge, with its price increasing by over 10% and adding $1 billion to its market value. Other meme coins like Pudgy Penguins also saw significant gains, rising by over 13% to reach a market capitalization of over $600 million.
Pump.fun, the largest token launchpad by trading volume, has taken steps to shore up confidence in its PUMP token. The company announced that it will burn $370 million worth of tokens and direct half of future net revenue towards a buyback-and-burn program. This move aims to address concerns about the token's long-term value and provide clarity on previous buyback commitments.
The launchpad has also introduced a new 'Charity Coins' feature, allowing creators to direct some or all of their creator fees to verified nonprofits. This initiative is meant to reduce uncertainty around fee donations and make it easier for traders to rally behind charitable narratives.
