Memecoins Surge: Dogecoin Trails Behind in Wild Rally
Memecoins have been on a tear, and Dogecoin is leading the charge. The meme-based cryptocurrency has gained about 33% month-to-date after trading near $0.091. Strong buying pressure, indicated by an RSI above 78 and positive CMF of 0.19, shows that money continues to flow into the asset.
The Open Interest (OI) in Dogecoin derivatives has also increased, reaching around $635 million with a positive funding rate. This suggests traders are leaning bullish and willing to pay to hold their longs.
However, other memecoins are outperforming Dogecoin's 33% gain. Official Trump gained about 79%, while Pudgy Penguins rose by 61%. Pepe climbed by nearly 60% over the week, with Bonk and SPX6900 also recording gains of about 38% and 45% respectively.
Despite these impressive numbers, it's not clear if this is a sign of an altcoin season. The Altcoin Season Index has a reading of 39, down from last week's 44 and last month's 53. This implies that Bitcoin may still have the upper hand.
