Solana Validators Weigh In On Resource-Based Fee Proposal

Solana validators are currently voting on SGP-0003, a governance proposal that would introduce a variable, resource-based transaction fee. If approved, this change could increase daily SOL burns from around 650 to between 7,500 and 9,000 SOL.

The vote began on August 23 and will conclude by August 27. The current flat-fee model for affected resources would be replaced with a fully burned resource-based fee structure under the proposal.

While the potential increase in daily burns is significant, it's essential to note that this projection depends on several factors, including approval, implementation, network usage, and how the fee mechanism works under real conditions. It's not yet clear whether Solana will become deflationary due to this proposal.
