Meta CEO Zuckerberg Stands Firm on Safe AI Development Pace
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has dismissed calls for artificial intelligence development to slow down, arguing that AI companies have natural incentives to develop safe technology. He made his views clear in a recent post on X, where he stated that labs possess responsibility and motivation to move at the pace required to train their models safely.
Zuckerberg's stance contrasts with that of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who has advocated for reducing AI advancement speed to avoid potential harm. However, Zuckerberg believes that laboratories face genuine liability exposure if their AI systems generate harmful outcomes, creating an organic motivation for cautious advancement.
Meta is currently evaluating its third-generation proprietary AI chip, the MTIA 450 or Arke, which it plans to integrate into its data center infrastructure in the first half of next year. The company also has a fourth-generation processor named Astrid under development, with a design phase concluding within approximately one month and data center implementation scheduled for late 2027.
Wall Street analysts have assigned Meta a Strong Buy rating, projecting over 13% potential gains based on the current consensus price target of $758.03.
