MetaMask Discloses Security Incident Affecting Ethereum Validators
Cryptocurrency wallet provider MetaMask has disclosed an ongoing security incident affecting some of its infrastructure. According to the company, there is 'no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets.'
The issue affects validators on the Ethereum network, which are nodes responsible for proposing blocks and verifying transactions.
As a precautionary measure, MetaMask has exited affected validators within its non-custodial staking operations in coordination with clients and partners.
Lido Finance, a decentralized liquid staking platform, said that MetaMask Staking (ex Consensys Staking) took similar measures to protect client assets related to Ethereum validators. The company will likely incur foregone rewards and possible downtime penalties.
