MetaMask Exits Ethereum Validators Amid Security Incident
MetaMask has disclosed a security incident that affected its staking infrastructure, prompting the company to exit Ethereum validators operated through its non-custodial staking service. The incident occurred on September 30 and MetaMask has confirmed that no immediate threat to users' wallets has been identified.
Lido, whose protocol includes Ethereum validators operated by MetaMask Staking, separately confirmed that the MetaMask Staking infrastructure was compromised.
MetaMask is taking precautions to protect client assets associated with its operated Ethereum validators and is shutting down these validators as a precaution. The affected validators are expected to exit the active validator set by October 7.
