MetaMask Exits Ethereum Validators Amid Security Incident
MetaMask, a popular Ethereum wallet and staking service, has announced that it is taking precautionary measures to protect its users' assets following a security incident. The company has exited its Ethereum validators, including those in the Lido protocol, as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential risks. According to Lido, the affected validators are expected to exit by the end of October 7.
MetaMask manages over $3 billion of staked Ether (ETH) through its infrastructure, making it a major gateway for users wanting to stake their Ethereum. The company has not disclosed the nature of the security incident, but it has assured users that there is no immediate threat to their wallets.
Lido Finance developer Will Shannon stated that the exited validators will return to the protocol gradually, with the process taking approximately 45 days due to the extended entry queue.
