MetaMask Exits Ethereum Validators Amid Undisclosed Security Incident
MetaMask has announced it is taking precautions to address a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. The company said it was working internally and with external partners to resolve the issue, but did not disclose what the problem was or how it was discovered.
The security incident has led MetaMask to exit its validators within non-custodial staking operations as a precautionary measure. This move is intended to protect client assets related to the company's operated Ethereum validators in the Lido protocol.
Lido Finance developer Will Shannon explained that affected validators are expected to exit by October 7, and that the Ether (ETH) withdrawn from these validators will return to the protocol gradually over a period of up to 45 days due to the extended entry queue.
